Staff Biographies

 

Eileen Lubeck, Psy.D., Director

Eileen Lubeck, Psy.D. joined the staff of William Paterson University in January 2003 as the Associate Director of Counseling. She became Director of Counseling, Health & Wellness in September 2005. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University in 1999. She has previous experience providing psychological services to undergraduate and graduate students at Rutgers University and at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Immediately prior to joining the staff of the Counseling, Health, & Wellness Center, Dr. Lubeck was employed at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where she worked in a specialized program providing psychotherapy to individuals who were infected with, or affected by, HIV/AIDS. Her clinical interests include: effects of childhood trauma, psychosocial impact of HIV/AIDS, and women’s developmental theory.

Jill Guzman, RN, MSN, CPNP, Associate Director

Jill graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and furthered her education with a Masters of Science in Nursing at Seton Hall University. She is a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and has previously been working in Primary Care for the past several years. Jill also was the former Patient Care Coordinator of Wayne General Hospital's Emergency Room. Jill also has previous experience as an emergency room nurse and a crisis intervention nurse. Jill recently joined the Health and Wellness Center providing health care to students at WPU.


Counseling Center Staff

The Counseling Center is staffed with psychologists, social workers, a psychiatrist consultant, and supervised graduate students.

Daisy Rodriguez-Kazanjian, M.S.W., L.C.S.W.

Daisy Rodriguez joined the staff of the Counseling, Health and Wellness Center in 2002. She has been practicing clinical social work since 1992 and is New Jersey state licensed to provide psychotherapy treatment services since 1999. She holds a post masters certificate in group work treatment and is a clinical associate member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association. Her areas of specialized training are in the assessment and treatment of childhood sexual abuse, assessment and clinical case management of chronic and persistent mental disorders, and group treatment of depression and anxiety. She has a specialized interest in transcultural treatment perspectives of first and second generation Latino college students.

John P. McTighe, M.S.W., L.C.S.W.

John joined the Counseling, Health, and Wellness Center in the fall of 2004. He holds Masters degrees in Clinical Social Work and Divinity, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Clinical Social Work at New York University. Prior to coming to William Paterson University he worked in hospital-based outpatient mental health with adults and children. He is certified in clinical hypnosis by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and has advance training in crisis intervention and disaster mental health. Working primarily from an Object Relations perspective, his clinical interests include practice with survivors of trauma, especially chronic trauma sustained in childhood, and the integration of culture and spirituality in psychotherapy. He is fluent in Spanish and French, and has worked predominantly with the Spanish-speaking community for the past ten years.

Joel Ingersoll, Ph.D.

Joel Ingersoll joined the Counseling, Health, and Wellness staff in August 2007. He holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, which he earned from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2003. He is licensed as a psychologist in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Joel completed his pre-doctoral internship at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. Prior to joining the Staff at William Paterson University, he worked as a Staff Psychologist & Coordinator of Alcohol & Other Drug Services at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. Joel’s clinical interests include assessment and treatment of addictive disorders (substance abuse, gambling), sports psychology/peak performance, adjustment problems, and eating disorders.

Thomas J. Schreiber, M.D.

Dr. Schreiber is the Consulting Psychiatrist at the Counseling Center. He is a graduate of the Cornell University Medical College and is Board Certified in both General Psychiatry and in Child And Adolescent Psychiatry. His postgraduate training was divided between academic programs at Cornell and a Community Mental Health Residency in the San Francisco area. He specializes in the outpatient treatment of anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and difficulties of cognitive processing. He enjoys working with a multidisciplinary team and his a special interest in integrating biomedical and psychosocial approaches to treatment.

Tal Yonai, Ph.D.

Tal Yonai joined the staff of the Counseling, Health and Wellness Center in December 2007 and holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Derner Institute for Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. Prior to joining the staff at William Paterson University, he was employed in the Department of Outpatient Psychiatry at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, treating children, adolescents, adults and families. In addition to his work in the public sector, he has previous experience providing psychological services to undergraduate and graduate students at both Fairleigh Dickinson University and Stony Brook University. Dr. Yonai’s clinical interests include: working with underserved populations and survivors of childhood trauma, creativity and development in artists and musicians, and psychodynamic approaches to the treatment of mental health disturbances.

Jennifer W. Bradford, Ph.D.

Jennifer joined the Counseling, Health, & Wellness Center in January 2008 as a staff psychologist and the coordinator of training. She earned her doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of North Texas in 2006. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of Pennsylvania and she completed a post-doctoral fellowship in student counseling and disability services at the University of Southern California. Prior to coming to William Paterson University, Jennifer was a staff psychologist and the coordinator of the eating disorders treatment team at California State University in Fullerton. Her clinical areas of interest include eating disorders, body image concerns, and mindful/intuitive eating; general college adjustment issues, self-esteem, and relationship concerns; and psychoeducational assessment, learning disabilities/ADHD, and academic concerns.

Silvia C. Barrera

Silvia came to WPU in April, 2007 as Administrative Assistant to the Director of Counseling, Health and Wellness as well as the Counseling Center Staff.  She is pursuing studies in Sociology with a concentration in Social Services.


Health & Wellness Staff

The Health & Wellness Center is staffed with a nurse practitioner, registered nurses, and a consulting physician.

Elizabeth Hoogmoed, MA, RN, APRN-BC, NP-C

Liz earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at William Paterson University and her Master of Arts from New York University.  She is a board certified Advanced Practice Nurse in Primary Care.  Prior to her work at the Health and Wellness Center, Liz worked as a nurse practitioner in a neurology practice.  Liz also has several years of experience at NYU Medical Center in the Emergency Department as well as being a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician.  Liz joined the staff at the Counseling, Health and Wellness Center in 2006 and enjoys providing primary health care to the students at William Paterson University.     

Carola Gremlich, RN

Carola graduated with her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Bloomfield College. Previously she worked in community health specializing in pediatrics, internal medicine and OB/Gyn. Before that she worked in Meadowlands Hospital in Secaucus in various units. She is a certified Child Birth Educator and has been working at William Paterson University since April 2004.

J . Christopher Mendler, MD

Dr. Mendler, a native of northern New Jersey, received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University. He returned to New Jersey for his medical degree and residency training, and received his fellowship training in Indianapolis, IN. Dr Mendler is board certified in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. In addition to his role as Consulting Physician at William Paterson University, he maintains a private practice in Oradell, NJ, and serves as the school and team physician to many area high schools and colleges.
