Are We There Yet? — The Lighter Side of Election 2008
October 10, 2008 • 7:00 p.m.

With a campaign that started in the last millennium—at least it feels that way!—it is time to have a good laugh at all things election-related: politicians, political parties, and the punditry that spins itself into
a dither every night on every TV station. Join our panel for an interactive, fun-filled evening, which includes host Peter Sagal, voice, and now face, of National Public Radio’s top-rated “Wait Wait. . .Don’t Tell Me!”; Carol Leifer, comedy performer and one of the original writers of the iconic TV hit, “Seinfeld”; and Christopher Buckley, satirist and best-selling author of Supreme Courtship, Thank You For Smoking, and No Way To Treat A First Lady. Bring your sense of humor and your knowledge of current events; hey, you never know if you will be picked for a round of “What Happened This Week?”

FRANK DEFORD, MIKE LUPICA, AND SELENA ROBERTS
The Art of Sportswriting
November 21, 2008 • 7:00 p.m.

Master sportswriters Frank Deford, Mike Lupica, and Selena Roberts join together for an entertaining, behind-the-headlines conversation about their experiences and insights covering the world’s biggest names and games. Whether writing for traditional print media, for broadcast, or now hunched over laptops, for the chock-a-block new universe of blogs, our panelists will discuss their craft’s challenges and opportunities. Among the most versatile of writers for more than four decades, Deford, an award-winning columnist and commentator whom GQ magazine has called "the world’s greatest sportswriter," has worked in virtually every medium. Lupica, an American newspaper columnist best known for his provocative commentary in the New York Daily News and on ESPN, has continually shown us why we love, need, and follow sports. Roberts is a senior writer at the famed Sports Illustrated after a decade at The New York Times where she served as a sports reporter and columnist.

  SESAME STREET AT 40,
A NIGHT OF CELEBRATION WITH THE LEGENDARY CAST
January 30, 2009 • 7:00 p.m.

“Sesame Street at 40” will be a night of celebration and discovery about a children’s TV show that reshaped the world. This once-in-a-lifetime event, crafted for an adult audience, features Frank Oz (Bert, Grover, and Cookie Monster), Kevin Clash (Elmo), Caroll Spinney (Big Bird and Oscar), Sonia Manzano (Maria), Bob McGrath (Bob), Marty Robinson (Telly Monster, Snuffy), Fran Brill (Zoe and Prairie Dawn), David Rudman (Baby Bear), and composer/writer Tony Geiss. The group will assemble as a memorial tribute to New Jersey’s own Richard Hunt, the irrepressible and life-affirming wit behind a score of characters from “Sesame Street” and “The Muppet Show.” Michael Davis, author of the soon-to-be-published Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street, will be the evening’s moderator. This matchless event will illustrate how an incredible cast of artists has been welcoming kids of all ages to the Sesame Street neighborhood for forty years.
